Timber and Logs Export from Russia in January-June 2021: Logs and Plywood Up During January-June 2021 Russia’s export of sawn goods made 9.2 mn tons, down 0.4% year-on-year. According to the RF Federal Customs Service’s statistics, in terms of value, sawn goods export was up 28.8% making $2.7 bn. Logs export increased by 12.6% year-on-year up to 7.2 mn cbm worth $537 mn, up 20.1% year-on-year. Plywood export grew by 12% year-on-year to make 1.6 mn cbm worth $800.9 mn, up 40.5% year-on-year. Wood pulp export in January-June 2021 amounted to over 1 mn tons, down 3.5% year-on-year worth $607.7 mn, up 29.5% year-on-year. Newsprint export made 469.2 thousand tons, down 19.2% year-on-year, worth $176 mn, down 11.4% year-on-year. In June, sawn goods export made 2.2 mn tons, up 18.2% year-on-year and up 29.9% month-on-month worth $697 mn, up 66% year-on-year and up 31.5% month-on-month. Logs export made about 1.4 mn cbm, up 1.8% year-on-year and up 4.4% month-on-month. In terms of value, it increased by 5.8% year-on-year and by 1% month-on-month to make $98.7 mn. Plywood export in June made 279.6 thousand cbm, up 25.2% year-on-year and up 10.9% month-on-month. In terms of value, it grew by 87.2% year-on-year and by 21.7% month-on-month making to $173.5 mn. Wood pulp export made 166.2 thousand tons, down 14% year-on-year and down 5% month-on-month. In terms of value, wood pulp export increased by 43.1% year-on-year and by 5.4% month-on-month to make $126.4 mn. Newsprint export declined by 1.5% year-on-year and grew by 4.2% month-on-month to make 86.6 thousand tons in terms of tonnage. In terms of value, it was up 25.6% year-on-year and up 10.4% month-to-month to $37.3 mn.
